Microsoft D365 BC Connector Wizard

Microsoft D365 Business Central Connector Wizard

History:
Solver has a robust integration engine which currently connects to D365 BC and many other cloud systems. The “Connector” we built plugs into our integration engine and connects to D365 BC. All available endpoints are exposed and available for Solver customers to map to the Solver Data Warehouse.

Challenge:

One of the challenges with our current solution, is that the customer will often have to take the time to specifically expose the endpoints they need to bring into Solver. This takes knowledge and time. Additionally, some data exposed by D365 requires extensive transformation to use in the Data Warehouse.

Goal:

  1. Load data with an easy integration

  2. Provide templates for easy reporting and planning (Dependent on MASTER STARMAN dimension)

    1. The Solver categories normalize the data sett and fits into our long-term goal

Automate creating integration and also provide templates for customer reports (reporting+ planning)

We would like to build a D365 BC/NAV app source plugin so that our customers can add to their environment and automatically expose the data endpoints in the format we need. With this solution, the customer would not need to take the time to expose basic data needed to import General Data and related dimensions into the Solver Data Warehouse. The app source presence is also important for brand awareness within the D365 BC community.

Scope:

Build a D365 plugin available via app source, which exposes custom endpoints to be used by the Solver integration cloud service.

  1. General Ledger transaction table

  2. All related dimensions, global dimensions and dimension sets.

    1. Expose the dimension set endpoint as individual dimension endpoints. To clarify, this means the dimension set table should parsed into separate dimension end points. This will need to be dynamic to meet the needs of each customer without customization.

Deliverable:

Once this scope is completed, the project should be delivered to Solver for testing and deployment to the Microsoft App source marketplace. Once this goes through code reviews and QA, we will discuss further scope.
